Carnival

folklore_carnival.jpg

Carnival is celebrated on the Island of the Temple People regularly.  The celebration continues to grow with the arrival of new pilgrims, some of whom choose to take up permanent residence on the island.   Colourful artistic floats, grotesque masks and dance companies of all ages and sexes parade the streets of the town and the main villages throughout the five days.  A spontaneous carnival is organised after sunset in the villages.  Hundreds of people walk up and down the main street dressed in comically distorted figures and the most imaginative and creative costumes and masks to conceal their identity.

I will donn my most elaborate dress, put on my golden wings and fly over there to participate…from previous experience the mortals think I am one of them in dress-ups when I do this. It is one of the rare occasions that I can reveal my true identity without being discovered. I will dress up today, and post a photo in my cabin…
